Meet The Team
We strongly believe that having a great team has been the key to our success. Each member of our team has been hand-picked for their enthusiasm, skills and expertise and we commit ourselves to making our patients’ orthodontic and dental experiences pleasant.
Our specialist orthodontist, Peter Douglas and his team are passionate about their work, and find it extremely rewarding to be able to give people stunning smiles and greater self-esteem.
Our orthodontic therapists, Rebecca Knighton and Aimee Smith are similarly enthusiastic and play a vital role in the success of our practice. They deliver a range of treatments including placing and adjusting fixed braces, as well as helping to ensure a positive experience for all patients.
Dentist / Specialist Orthodontist
BDS Sheffield 1983
I am the practice owner who qualified at Sheffield University and set up Raynesway Dental in 1988. I have built up a fantastic, friendly team and together we provide high quality dentistry at prices that represent excellent value for money. I am very proud of the team we have and many staff have been here for over 10 years, some over 20.
I am a specialist orthodontist, which means I have undertaken additional training to a dentist to enable me to provide orthodontic treatment. I am passionate about my work and find it extremely rewarding to help my patients feel more confident in themselves by improving their smiles. I have trained extensively and studied around the world with some of the most respected orthodontists and actively seek out ways to increase my knowledge.
I am married to Barbara and have two grown up children Jemma and Michael. I enjoy family life, outdoor pursuits and travelling, especially around Europe in our ‘ fun bus’ motorhome.
BDS Bristol 1980
I have been straightening teeth at Raynesway since 1997. After completing over 3,000 children’s treatments under the NHS, plus a similar number of non-NHS children and adults, both here and in Spain, I certainly have the necessary experience to help give people great smiles. I am one of a few Diamond providers of Invisalign braces in Derby.
With many years left in the old dog yet, my enthusiasm for work shows little sign of abating. There is nothing more thrilling than revealing a gorgeous straight smile for the first time – it could be you next!
Dentist / Specialist Orthodontist
BDS, MFDS, MOrth, MPhil, AHEA Specialist Orthodontist
I have recently joined the practice; having been working as a Specialist Orthodontist for the past 6 years. I completed both my undergraduate and specialist training at The University of Birmingham, before relocating to Derby in 2012. I enjoy all aspects of brace treatment including fixed braces, Invisalign and Incognito (invisible braces on the inside of teeth). I love seeing the people happy with their new smile! Outside of work I enjoy being active. My major passion is karate, but I also love hiking, skiing and baking. I have 2 small children who also keep me on my toes!
BDS London 1997, United Medical and Dental Schools of Guys and St Thomases
I have been part of the team here at Raynesway for ten years. I have previously worked in Derby, Edinburgh and London.
I am a kind and sympathetic person and always make an effort to make my patients feel comfortable and at ease when visiting the practice. I like to spend my time listening and discussing any concerns that you may have and aim to offer treatment that is tailored to your needs.
I find that my patients appreciate this approach; we all like to feel we’re treated in a personal way yet it happens so infrequently today.
Apart from regular dental treatments, I offer cosmetic solutions for treating lines on the face, areas such as the forehead and around the eyes can be treated and volume can be added to areas where there may be deficiency, such as fine lines around the lip lines.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and love my food and cooking.
